Oral Exhaust Vent Of The Drifting Structure

Oral Exhaust Vent Of The Drifting Structure.

Oral Exhaust Vent Of The Drifting Structure is a continuation of the project
A Psychogeographical Drift Through Air, which is a sequence of recordings of drones from air vents around the city.

This project takes it’s starting point in the idea that we can hear the whole internal architecture escaping these vibrating openings just like the mouth on the human body.

In this project the humming and droning comes from the human body, in an attempt to try to sound and remediate the air vents from A Psychogeographical Drift Through Air.

Animating myself to transduce my inner structure so that the drifting mass of my body gets sonified.

Space & Time

Space & Time

December 22, 2018

Järntorget. 08:15-09:15.

A public hour sonified and amplified.
Sound, time and public syncs and syncope with each other.
Public life moves in and out of time.

In the recording there is the sound of the site and a megaphone producing time as sonic information. Like a bat’s sonar the sonified time maps out the space.

Public Drones

Public Drones

November 22, 2018

Public Drones is a set of live concerts in the public realm. With prerecorded drones and megaphones the city is set to vibration.

Orchestrating the drones at sunrise as a kind of alarm clock, while the city is waking up. To set a tune to that moment in the day when people are getting about their lives, rising up and still dreaming. Hopefully placing a seed or just a glimpse of wonder, something a pedestrian who happens to hear it can audiate upon.

Public Drones contributes to the magic of the urban soundscape by adding a sonic layer to the soundscape. The drones are inspired by the not uncommon occuring drones in the urban soundscape. With the amplifying and staging of these events, the city tunes in. The urban soundscape is filled with many mysteries and hidden sound sources one can stumble across. The sources are often too far away or out of sight to be perceived other than sonically.

Masthuggskyrkan

This drone began at sunrise for the duration of ten minutes. This location was recorded some hundred meters away in the middle of the street. While the drone was sounding citizens were moving towards daily life and there were some people who packed a car with their belongings like plants, record collection and their rugs.

Skansken Koronan

As with the other drones the method is to start the drone at dawn and make it last for ten minutes. At this location the buzzing and humming started at seven thirty and the sound in the recording was captured in a park in close proximity to the drone. At this point the urban soundscape was filled with citizens getting to work, school and other appointments. There is a sense of direction everywhere.

A Psychogeographical Drift Through Air

A Psychogeographical Drift Through Air

This project explores the sounds of air vents around the city.

A thought

That you can hear the voice of the structures escaping from the vents.
That you can hear the whole body from these openings.

Remediation

Transforms these structures into sonic information.

Gröna Vallen

The sound of this small house is very bass heavy, with a touch of metallic noises from the vent plates.

Mariaplan 16

The vent is located in an alleyway like structure.
In the recording you hear residents walking to the laundry room.

Coop Nära Mariaplan

A big structure containing many vents, close to Mariaplan 16.

My Way Linné Platsen

Recorded on a sunny day with lots of noises from trams and busses.
The manager of My Way came out to see what was going on.
